The First Supper
We invite all to our Holy Thursday Service on April 13, 2017, 7:00 p.m. Located in our beautiful sanctuary on 1723 West Lawndale Street, our Prayer Chaplains have lovingly prepared an experience in the metaphysics of the transformative forces in our journey to conscious union with the Divine.
Dying to anything less than knowing ourselves to be divine creations, we participate in the Cosmic Christ Mystery of death and resurrection. This metaphysical interpretation of the traditional Holy Week incorporates the leading edge teachings in the Christian community. This is no longer a story of Jesus dying on the cross to obtain forgiveness from a distant God who demands retribution for the sins of mankind. Rather, it is an opportunity to enter into this mystery of a Divine Source / God who embodies itself in created form, fully participating in the love and suffering we too experience. This is the God of Love, of At-One-Ment, who shows us in the life of the man, Jesus of Nazareth, a way of life that is based in great love and suffering as transformative forces in our journey to conscious union with the Divine.
This service will feature music from longtime favorite Unity of SA musician David Groce on keyboards and vocals. Deborah Marshall will grace us with the soothing sounds of her harp.
Ritual stations positioned around the sanctuary will provide contemplative opportunities. They include:
- Blessing of Bread and Water
- Foot Washing
- Sacred Face Painting
- Good Vibrations
- Affirmative Prayer
This Holy Thursday service is an experiential opportunity to participate in the many ways we can enter into this death and resurrection in our daily lives. Our prayer chaplains look forward to warmly welcoming you. Contact us if you have any questions about Holy Thursday.
