Sunday Morning Adult Education
Flavio Vilches, Board of Trustees Member
I heard about Adult Education class on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. in church announcements, but never attended. The class starts at 9:15 a.m. I hesitated to attend the class because it was soooo early on Sunday morning! One Sunday morning, it was day time adjustment day (daylight savings). I forgot all about it, so I was in church one hour earlier than usual. I decided to check out that class.
The discussion was about one chapter in a book. So I sat there and saw the group was participating actively in the discussion. Some deep thoughts were expressed in the room. The whole hour passed very quickly, since I found myself merged into the discussion.
The following week, I was there on purpose. I was really amazed and awed to witness lots of wisdom and the depth of the discussion. Man! I get so much out of it every single time!
Since then, I have missed only two sessions. My spiritual growth has definitely been increased substantially by participating in this class. Dottie is a wonderful teacher, and she spends several hours preparing for the Sunday session, and she always selects interesting and great books for the discussion.
This is a safe group, where you can openly share your ideas and feelings with absolute confidentiality. There is a beautiful camaraderie feeling amongst the participants. We get to know each other in a deep way.
All in all, it is a beautiful experience, and to top it off, right after the class, is the preservice meditation at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. To me, it’s is a perfect way to spend your Sunday morning.
Sunday Adult Study Group is offered weekly before church at 9:15 a.m. on the second floor in our Unity Heights Building located at 8103 Broadway Street. Our facilitator is Dottie Henderson, Licensed Unity Teacher (LUT). In this study group, all are welcome to explore Unity topics, Unity books and other literature in the Socratic Method.
There is no need to pre-register, simply show up! Contact us if you have questions about the Sunday Adult Study Group at Unity of SA.
