Rev. Jimmie Scott
Well, here we are, standing on the precipice of the second week of Advent. The week beginning Sunday, December 3rd, symbolizes love. The love embodied in “Christ,” with Jesus being the perfect example.
Jesus was an extraordinary person who, through his life and works, exhibited what love requires of us. It was never simple, and is never simple because the extraordinary has to embody the ordinary.
On the other hand, it does require a simple faith. A faith grounded in love. Love of God, love of self, love of life, and the distinct understanding that what we often are searching for, is what we are searching with.
The miracle of Christ! The miracle of love! The miracles of life are as much alive today as they have ever been, but we have to look beyond the subterfuge to see them clearly.
C. S. Lewis summed it up with this statement, “Miracles are a retelling in small letters of the very same story that is written across the whole world in letters too large for some of us to see.”
Love, Rev. Jimmie
