Answering the Call: Unity Publication Outreach
Jeanetta Davis, Prayer Chaplain, Unity Publication Outreach Coordinator, Unity of SA
I was introduced to Unity Worldwide Ministries’ new 0utreach program at the Unity Worldwide convention, held here in San Antonio in June. I immediately felt called to this ministry! After much prayer, I listed myself as a contact person for this undertaking.
On August 9th, Pamela, Birdie, and I joined other Unity Churches in a digital webcast training session. We were excited to learn there had already been a successful pilot program. We would be provided guidance and materials free of charge to start a new ministry in our church. We submitted a proposal to the Board of Trustees at Unity of SA and it was approved!
We are excited to announce the forming of a new ministry within the church called “Unity Publication Outreach.” Developed by Unity Worldwide Ministries, the outreach program offers a packet filled with beautiful and inspiring Unity publications to enrich lives and lift those who are on the path to wholeness.
Distributed on a quarterly basis, these packets will focus on various challenges and offer Spiritual uplifting to those facing them. This quarter the focus is on the cancer journey. The packet contains a booklet you may have seen in the church bookstore named, “Never Alone, Facing Cancer with Faith.” The packet also has a Daily Word, and a booklet called “Healing Thoughts.” The packet also contains information on how to find a Unity church and how to call Silent Unity for prayer support.
We are looking for nurses, doctors, survivors, social workers, and anyone who may feel a calling toward this ministry. We are holding an interest meeting Sunday Oct 1, at 12:30 p.m. in the conference room of suite 210 in the Unity Heights Building with more information about this ministry. Please stop by and learn how you can get involved. Preregistration is not necessary, but will help us prepare materials for you. Click here to register.
We envision reaching out to cancer support groups, treatment centers, hospitals that treat cancer, and hospice providers, and offering them packets, free of charge. We will seek out chaplains, and Directors of Spiritual Care in these facilities, make an appointment to talk with them and offer our publications to them. The team will maintain documentation of those who agree to distribute the publications to see how the materials are received.
We have packets in the church office for anyone who would like to pick one up to share with family or friends. Please reach out to Birdie to get one. Click here to contact her. I believe this is a great undertaking for our church and the spreading of the Unity message.
