“Easter Sunday,” Jennifer Gates, Youth and Family Ministry Director
“The resurrection takes place in us every time we rise to Jesus’ realization of the perpetual indwelling life that is connecting us to the Father. A new flood of life comes to all who open their minds and their bodies to the living word of God.” – Charles Fillmore, Co-Founder of Unity
What is Easter Sunday?
Easter Sunday is the day we celebrate the resurrection or “rebirth” of Jesus Christ. Although Jesus’ work on earth, in human form, has come to an end with his crucifixion on the cross, his spirit and his teaching live on through each of us. Throughout his life, Jesus taught that God’s divinity is in each of us (Unity Principle #2).
Adult volunteers will provide information about Unity’s understanding of the Easter story. They will facilitate discussion around how each of us can shine Christ’s light in the world and live through our own examples of “resurrection”. Volunteers will also help facilitate the Eater Egg hunt on our church campus!
Children and teens will discuss and continue to incorporate or expand upon existing knowledge of their own connection to Jesus as a teacher. A deeper understanding of the Christ Consciousness or Christ Within will be encouraged as we discuss our ability to shine Light on the world around us by learning to live as Jesus did. We will use the Easter Eggs to discuss new life, rebirth, the shedding of our former ways, and our discovery of the eternal, divine life within each of us.
Principle #2: I am naturally good because God’s Divinity is in me and in everyone.
Principle #3: I create my world through my thoughts and choices.
