Celebrating Earth Day
“We should speak words of Truth to the rocks, plants, and animals as well as to our fellow human beings. The Christ Consciousness that measures all appearance by Divine Ideas informs all aspects of manifest life. All of life is imbued with Christ Consciousness.” – Charles Fillmore, Co-Founder of Unity
Affirmation: I co-create the world in which I live. I care for and love my world.
The April 22 celebration of Earth Day, founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson, was first organized in 1970 to promote ecology and respect for life on the planet as well as to encourage awareness of the growing problems of air, water, and soil pollution. Gaylord Anton Nelson was an American politician from Wisconsin who served as a United States Senator and governor. His founding of Earth Day launched a new wave of environmental activism.
Adult volunteers will lead our children and teens through a Mindfulness exercise focusing on the natural world around us this Sunday. As we tune in to the supportive and nurturing environment of our natural world, we will also discuss ways in which we are connecting to our planet and to all living creatures. We will culminate our adventure with a walkabout to see what treasures are waiting to be found! Celebrating Earth Day gives us a wonderful opportunity to see Unity Principle #3 in action: I create my world through my thoughts and choices.
We invite you to stop by the CommUNITY Center after the 11:00 a.m. service this Sunday as well to see the Earth Day and Earth-related facts that our children and teens will be placing on the tables. Enjoy some socialization and expand your knowledge all at the same time!
As always, I invite each of you to join us in our classroom on a Sunday morning. You may just find that your spiritual life is enriched by the lessons we are sharing. And, remember, volunteers for our Youth Ministry team are welcomed with open arms! Contact me to learn more about supporting this important area of our ministry!
