The Powers of Faith and Love
Faith is that quality in us which enables us to look past appearances of lack, limitation or difficulty, to take hold of the divine idea and believe in it even though we do not see any evidence of it except in our mind. Through faith we know with an inner knowing the Truth that has not yet expressed in our manifest world. – Winifred Wilkinson Hausmann
“Love is the healing, harmonizing and uniting power within each of us.
Love joins and binds everything in the universe together.” – Erich Fromm
Affirmation: Through Faith and Love, I bring light to the world.
Last week, we enjoyed a nice introduction to the 12 Powers and had a chance to discuss a broad overview of each of them. This week, we will be discussing in more depth the Powers of Faith and Love. Drawing upon the rich history of Unity teachings and traditions we will provide an opportunity for our children and teens to understand how Faith and Love are inherent parts of their stock of Powers. We will also define what each of these powers means and look for ways to incorporate them in our lives.
Through discussion, games, storytelling and meditation, adult volunteers will provide information about the Powers of Faith and Love and how each of us can remain open to seeing them expressed in our lives.
Children and teens will be able to identify ways that the Powers of Faith and Love show up in their lives. They will briefly explore the meaning of each Power, and they will begin to think about how to integrate the Powers in their daily lives.
Principle #1: God is good and present everywhere.
Principle #2: I am naturally good because God’s divinity is in me.
Principle #3: I create my life experience by what I choose to think, believe and feel.
Principle #4: There is power in affirmative prayer and meditation.
Principle #5: I must live the Truth that I know!
As always, I invite each of you to join us in our classroom on a Sunday morning. You may just find that your spiritual life is enriched by the lessons we are sharing. We are especially looking for volunteers who are willing to serve during the summer months – June, July, and August!
