Jesus Enters Jerusalem
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. – John 14:27
Affirmation: My words have power. I speak the Truth. I am happy for new beginnings.
Palm Sunday is the day we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, one week before His resurrection. Palm Sunday marks the start of what is often called “Passion Week,” the final seven days of Jesus’ earthly ministry. It can be seen as the “beginning of the end” of Jesus’ physical presence and work on earth. At Unity of SA, we also look to the metaphysical interpretation of the events which are detailed for us from the biblical times. In doing so, we understand Jesus’ journey from Galilee to Jerusalem as a symbol of the journey we also must undertake as we advance from our human only consciousness to spiritual consciousness.
This week, in our Youth Ministry classrooms, our adult volunteers, children, and teens will discuss the details of Palm Sunday and the meaning that this story has for our own lives and our spiritual evolution. We will close out our time together with some creativity as we make gifts for our Unity of SA congregation to symbolize the meaning of Palm Sunday. So, be sure to receive your gift – from our children and teens just for you!
Learning objective for children/teens: Children and teens will discuss and begin to incorporate or expand upon existing knowledge of their own connection to Jesus as a teacher. They will also gain insight into the Unity Principles as illustrated in the stories associated with Jesus. A deeper understanding of the Christ Consciousness or Christ Within will be encouraged.
Unity Principles for this week:
Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday are wonderful opportunities for our children, teens, and adult volunteers to re-examine and explore all five of our basic Unity principles!
Principle #1: There is nothing outside of God
Principle #2: I am naturally good because God’s Divinity is in me and in everyone.
Principle #3: I create my world through my thoughts and choices.
Principle #4: Through prayer and meditation I connect with Christ within.
Principle #5: Every day I do my best, I give my best, and I make a difference in the world.
As always, I invite each of you to join us in our classroom on a Sunday morning. You may just find that your spiritual life is enriched by the lessons we are sharing. And, remember, volunteers for our Youth Ministry team are welcomed with open arms! Call me to learn more about supporting this important area of our ministry!
I would also like to invite you to share Easter breakfast with our Unity of SA CommUNITY on Sunday, April 16, prior to our 11:00 AM service. Monetary love offerings received from this breakfast will benefit our YM program and assist with costs for our YOU (Youth of Unity) teens attending their summer rally! A heartfelt thank you to our fabulous YOU sponsor, Gary Glassman, for helping coordinate this event with our Board of Trustees!
