Dear Unity of San Antonio Family,
We are writing to you today with both transparency and deep faith — trusting, as we always have, that this community rises to meet whatever comes. This past week, our Unity Heights building experienced an urgent and unexpected plumbing failure. What began as a repair quickly revealed something much larger: the main sewer line beneath the building — original cast iron pipes now more than 50 years old — has reached the end of its lifespan and must be fully replaced. We have contracted with a reputable local company to excavate and replace 85 feet of the main line and its branches. The work is already underway, and we expect it to be complete by this Sunday. The total cost of this emergency repair is $55,000. We have drawn on our building fund and reserves to address the majority of this, and we are expecting a $24,000 grant reimbursement within the next 30 days. In the short term, however, we have a gap of approximately $15,000 that we need to bridge right now in order to complete the work and meet our financial obligations. We do not take lightly the act of reaching out to you this way. And yet — we know this community. In December of 2024, when we brought a YE shortfall before you, you responded with generosity, speed, and love. We are calling on that same spirit today. If you feel moved to contribute, any gift — of any size — matters deeply. Donations can be made through our online giving portal, by check made payable to Unity of San Antonio, or in person. Juliana will be sharing more from the platform this Sunday, and we welcome your questions. We are committed to keeping you fully informed as this situation unfolds. Thank you for the privilege of serving this community — and for the trust you place in us. We face this together, as we always have. With love and gratitude, |
