August HappeningsAug 5th & 19th — Guided Meditation | 1st & 2nd Wednesdays Worldwide humanity has always sought peace. Grounded, centered, stillness. With this in mind, please join us the 1st and 2nd Wednesdays of each month as we embrace this longing with one hour of guided meditation from the worlds spiritual teachings. Our focus... peace. Aug 7th — Lights Camera Compassion Movie Screening August Movie Night features two extraordinary short films that will open your heart and linger in your soul long after the credits roll. Aug 8th & 15th — The Forgotten Teachings of Charles Fillmore Time: 12:00 PM- 2:00 PM . Location: Sent Upon Registration Caron De Mars will host brunch in her home Aug. 8, and Gloria Alvarez will provide brunch on Aug. 15 in her home. World Day of PrayerLove is Alive — and on this World Day of Prayer, we gather to feel it. Join us Wednesday, September 9th, from 5–9 p.m. for a sacred evening weaving together the ancient voices of Native American flute, the healing resonance of Tibetan singing bowls, and the global chorus of the World Day of Prayer livestream. We'll open with a shared meal - tacos! - at 5 p.m., because good food is its own kind of communion. Across every tradition, across every border, love is the thread that binds us all.

Youth & Family MinistryAugust for our families always centers around back-to-school. Getting ready, getting re-adjusted to new schedules and sometimes even new schools. I know for me, it feels a little overwhelming. It always feels like there is more to do than I have time to do it. Nothing in my schedule goes away, I just have all of this extra stuff to do on top of it, and with a time limit. And I only have one kid at home!
My acknowledgment to all of those families with multi kids to get ready for school. It's during these chaotic times that we are reminded to lean into our spiritual practices, just when we are the most likely to drop them. I may not have time to sit down and meditate, but I can practice being in the present moment anywhere - while I am driving, cooking, shopping...it doesn't matter. If I am thinking of the next thing to do, I am not present in the moment. Bringing myself back to the car, the room, or the shopping cart, and letting go of the previous conversation or the next task is the best way for me to tame the overwhelm. Well, that, and a good working list!
In your busy days ahead, when you are feeling overwhelmed and life feels chaotic, ask yourself if your thoughts are in the past, the future or the present. And then, bring yourself back to the here and now. Here, and Now, is the only place we really connect with our Source. For more tips on how to do this, look up info on mindfulness.

IYOU DonationsThis past month, I had the pleasure of taking two of our YOUers (highschool age) to IYOU, International Youth of Unity Rally (Retreat) in Unity Village. It was amazing with wonderful music, lots of meditations, games, service, and connections with new and old friends from around the country. I heard so many of the teens there share how much their regional rally and the IYOU Rally made a profound difference in their lives. Thank you for helping to make this possible for our teens.
