June HappeningsJune 3rd — Guided Meditation | 1st & 2nd Wednesdays Women of Unity of San Antonio connect for fellowship, inspiration, and shared experiences. June 5th —Lights Camera Compassion Movie Screening What if the most radical thing you could do is simply love? Join us June 5th for I AM, Tom Shadyac's deeply personal documentary exploring what's wrong with our world and what we can do about it. Spoiler: the answer lives in all of us. Screening followed by discussion. Enjoy popcorn, drinks, and a soul-filling experience with our community. This is a love donation event—come as you are and give from the heart. June 5th — Trash Pickup Earthcare History doesn't always live in museums. Sometimes it rests quietly beneath your feet. Join us for a morning of service and discovery among 31 nationally registered historic cemeteries. We'll help care for this remarkable place while uncovering stories from San Antonio's earliest days. A little service, a lot of history, and an experience you won't forget. June 7th — ‘Your A Wrap Star Dad!’ Potluck Join us for our monthly Newcomer Potluck as we celebrate the dads, father figures, and supportive people in our lives. Whether you're new to Unity of San Antonio or have been attending for a while, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others, share a meal, and build community. June 14th — Wildscaped Homes Tour Time: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM . Location: Given upon registration. Walk on the wild side with a tour of San Antonio's native landscapes! Native Plant Society members will be giving tours of their yards to show the beauty, draught resistance, an wildlife attraction to native plants. June 20th — Labyrinth walk In Denman Estates Experience the wonders of nature and compose or bring a poem or prayer to bless the Earth. Then we'll walk the labyrinth and around Denman Estate Park to see the ducks, turtles, and pagodas, which were a gift from Korea. June 24th— Drum Circle | 4th Wednesdays Join us every 4th Wednesday for our Sacred Drum Circle, a powerful journey through rhythm, intention, and Spirit. Bring a drum, rattle, water, and an open heart. Together we will ground, open, release, and manifest in a welcoming community setting. |

Youth & Family MinistryJune is a month full of the beginnings of summer. Everyone is excited to have a break, summer camps are in full swing, Father's Day is in June, and families begin their summer trips. It's easy to get out of our normal routines, and we are even relieved to have a break from the monotony. It's important, though, to keep in mind that kids (and even teens) thrive in a structured environment. Structure creates a sense of safety for kids, and when they feel safe, they are able to spread their wings, they're willing to try new things, and explore their environment. They are also easier to get along with! Going to church is one of the structures our family put into place long before I became Youth Ministry Director. My kids loved going to church once we got there, but they would often resist going in the morning when we were getting ready. After I decided to include church as one of our structures, and they realized it was no longer a choice, the arguments about it on Sundays tapered off and died away. As we went regularly, they started developing relationships with the other kids which made them enjoy going even more. It soon became a structure we all grew to love, as we discovered it nourishes us and supports our deep human need for community. As the summer ramps up, remember to keep some of those structures in place that nourish and support your family. Hopefully, we will be one of them!
