It is a joy to introduce our newest members of the Prayer Chaplain Team. We welcome each of you and are grateful for your life journey, your talents, and your future service as Prayer Chaplains for our community!

Jordan Vereen

Jordan Vereen, MSW, is honored to serve as a Prayer Chaplain for Unity of San Antonio while pursuing her ministerial path at the Unity Urban Ministerial School. In her transition from clinical social work to "Soulcial Work," Jordan synthesizes the affirmative power of New Thought with the perceptual shifts of A Course in Miracles to help others recognize their inherent Divine Authority.

As the steward of the budding Open Heart Harbor, she views chaplaincy as a lighthouse role, standing steady in the truth of our Oneness to offer a safe harbor for prayer and spiritual arrival. When Jordan is not in deep spiritual study or practice, she finds her "Wise Mind" balance through nature walks with her dogs, family game and movie nights, and cuddling with her cats. She deeply treasures the simple release found in tea and soul-nourishing chats with loved ones.

Jordan is honored to hold a sacred space of high-frequency peace and prayer for the Unity of San Antonio family.

Vicky Andam

I am Vicky Andam, and I grew up in beautiful Hawaii. I spent my childhood and young adult years there before moving to Phoenix for job opportunities. That's where I was introduced to New Thought and Unity principles. Through this discovery, I even got to sing for several churches in Arizona as part of a musical group, Point of Light.

Later, I moved to San Antonio in June 2022. Now, I'm thrilled to be part of Unity of San Antonio's Music Team and the wonderful community we have here!

Weaver Sjolander

Hello, I'm Weaver Sjolander. I changed my first name from Linda in the '90s. My dad was in the Air Force while I was growing up and was stationed here at Kelly when we were in the States.

I have lived in Okinawa and Frankfurt, Germany, and I was born and attended high school in England. I've had a couple of almost-careers, including working with dolphins in Hawaii, following humpback whales around Hawaii and Alaska, and serving as an air traffic controller at Denver Center and Aspen Tower.

I love Unity's understanding of God, and I feel at home here. I also practice Tibetan Buddhist meditation and Qi Gong as my form of physical exercise.

July 12 — Guest Speaker Karen Tudor: "Scratch-Free Living"

I have been overprotective of my things all my life, keeping them not only clean and put away but also as close to new as possible. I was intolerant of what is usually considered normal "wear and tear" of ownership, and I suffered when something was torn, broken, or lost.

I had to learn that life leaves its mark on us in all kinds of ways and that loss has its own beautiful lessons and power when we allow ourselves to truly let go and heal.

Join us as we discover that "scratch-free living" isn't the goal of a life well lived

July 22 — Sacred Drum Circle | 4th Wednesday

Time: 7:00 PM–9:00 PM · Location: Unity Sanctuary

Join us every 4th Wednesday for our Sacred Drum Circle, a powerful journey through rhythm, intention, and Spirit. Bring a drum, rattle, water, and an open heart. Together, we will ground, open, release, and manifest in a welcoming community setting.

June and July are bringing lots of fun to our YFM program! UTOTS and UKIDS (preschool–5th grade) are working through a unit on Joy, exploring what joy is, how we create it in our lives, what gets in the way of experiencing it, and what we can do about it. We lean into Bible stories, Unity principles, and games to support the discovery process. There are lots of fun activities throughout this unit.

Our Y.O.U. (high school age) recently returned from our summer retreat, Legacy Rally. We took seven of our own teens, plus one from Houston, along with four sponsors, to Oklahoma for 4½ days of spiritual growth, fun, and connection. It was an amazing rally created by one of our own Y.O.U. members, Emilio Ramirez, and another Y.O.U. member from Albuquerque.

At the end of the rally, the Y.O.U. members voted for their next Regional Officers (also known as "Regies"). We're excited to share that one of our own was elected to the four-member Regie team! Lucia Nutt will serve as a Regie next year, helping to create and plan the Legacy 2027 Rally. Congratulations, Emilio and Lucia! We are so proud of you.

The International Youth of Unity (IYOU) Rally takes place July 19–24. Similar to our district's Legacy Rally, this international spiritual retreat welcomes Unity churches from around the world to send teens, ages 15–18, to Unity Village in Missouri. These rallies are truly life-changing experiences. Many parents of past attendees have shared what a lasting difference they made in their teen's life.

There is an opportunity to help! We are fundraising for the trip to IYOU to cover three airline tickets, registration fees, and incidental travel expenses. Our goal is $2,300. Any funds raised beyond that goal will go toward the YFM general fund to support future rallies and program expenses, including supplies.
